PRESERVING PALM SPRINGS
Palm Springs is a world-famous city, and tourist Mecca. We are known for fabulous weather, rich desert landscapes, legendary mid-century architecture and design, authentic cultural experiences, as well as one-of-a-kind shopping and dining experiences from our local businesses.
Expand on our number of our public open spaces without over-developing our beautiful desert landscape and aesthetic.
Work with local groups to preserve and maintain the historical and architectural buildings and homes that attract tourists to Palm Springs.
Fully support and find funding for the renovation of our Palm Springs Public Library, which has not had a major renovation since 1975, and is vital lifeline of education, information and socialization for community members of all ages.
Preserve, secure and increase our desert landscape and natural resources, including open spaces, hiking trails and water supply.
Support Improvements to walking trails, bike paths, public green space, and advocate for walkable neighborhoods and retail areas.
Expand the schedule of street and building facade cleaning, especially in our bustling downtown district.
Support and fund better road management, paving and rehabilitation.
Study traffic patterns and congestion, especially during season, including out of sync traffic lights.
Work with the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau to develop a city-wide campaign to alert tourists of how to respectfully enjoy our beautiful town and natural landscape.
Create and fund programs through Measure J where twice-a-year neighborhood groups come together and work within their neighborhood on clean-up and beautification.
